11 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 11 Weeks

Size of baby:The baby is the size of a fig. About an 1 1/2 inches long.

Baby Development: Tiny tooth buds are beginning to form and its bones are beginning to harden

Total Weight Gain/Loss: The scale at the gym still says about 1 kilo so 2.2 pounds. But since I only went to the gym once this week, who knows. We will see next week at the doctor.

Favorite thing to wear: Today I felt huge wearing a skirt and a sweater. I think it just hit at the wrong spot. So no more skirts for me. I can't wait until my mom comes to bring me some dresses to wear with leggings.

Gender: We will be finding out the gender and can’t wait! But we have to wait until at least 16 weeks.

Movement: No baby movement felt yet. It is kicking a lot in my stomach though.

Sleep: Sleeping has gotten a bit better this week. I have been trying to drink less at night and it is working.

What I miss: Nothing really this week!

Cravings: Still carbs but my craving for salt has gone down a lot. The thought of making salad at home makes me want to gag. I brought salad for lunch 2 days this week and couldn't eat it either day. So I need to start eating more vegetables. I like the salad at school and was able to eat that two days this week.

Symptoms: Monday morning I woke up feeling like a new woman and felt great all day and made it to yoga that night. Tuesday night I got on the couch and then got sick about 5 times. Not so fun. But Wednesday I felt fine again.

This is how I was feeling Tuesday night.

Best Moment this week: Sharing the news with some special friends.

Quote of the week: Zann "Do people really sniff their baby's butts? I am not doing that and if I do I am going to write it down and make him pay me 5 dollars for every time when he gets a job"

Someone to me: "You don't look pregnant yet, you just look like you have gained weight"

10 Weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 10 Weeks

Size of baby: Less than a quarter of an ounce. The baby is the size of a kumquat (small orange) so about an inch long.

Baby Development: The baby can now bend its limbs!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: The scale at the gym says about 1 kilo or 2.2 pounds. But the scale at the dr. said I weighed less.

Favorite thing to wear: No maternity clothes yet, but my pants are beginning to feel tighter.

Gender: We will be finding out the gender and can’t wait! But we have to wait until at least 16 weeks.

Movement: No baby movement felt yet. It is kicking a lot in my stomach though.

Sleep: I am falling asleep very easily but have been waking up 2 or 3 times a night to use the bathroom. I have also been waking up very early and not able to fall back asleep.

What I miss: Sleeping through the night!

Cravings: Carbs and fruit. I have to eat something big for breakfast or I start to feel sick. I have been hungry a lot more lately. I tried to just bring a salad for lunch this week but I was still starving and had to get a sandwich. I eat many snacks through out the day because if I even start to feel hungry I feel like I am going to faint.

Symptoms: Extreme tiredness!! Before lunch time and at the end of the school day I feel like I am going to fall over.

Best Moment this week: Sharing the news with some special friends.

Quote of the week: Me to Zann "I just wish you would get me a catheter so ~I didn't have to get out of bed or get off the couch so much."

Thailand- Heaven on Earth

Ahhh I miss it already!! This was a much needed vacation for Zann and me. I know it may seem like we go on vacation alot and that is true but we had not been somewhere to just relax in a long time. Including Christmas break and this trip I have been on 17 flights in two months. And that in itself is exhausting. So with February break coming up we wanted to go somewhere warm where we could just spend time on the beach and relax. Well, a place with that description is not easy to find around Europe so Thailand was suprisingly the easiest choice. Since we moved, I have dreamed of going to Asia but never thought it would actually happen. And now that we have been, we want to go back!

After arriving in Bangkok we got right on a flight to Koh Samui. We stayed at the beautiful Peace Resort. It was the perfect place for us. Right on the beach with a nice pool, breakfast included, a bath tub on the porch, and a 5 minute walk on the beach to the town.
Well I don't have too many stories about Koh Samui because each day we did the exact same thing. We slept in and ate breakfast on the beach. Then spent some time reading and enjoying the scenary at the beach or in the pool. In the afternoon, I would get a massage on the beach while Zann would go to happy hour. Then we would get ready and walk on the beach to town to get dinner. And the next day get up to start all over again. So I will just share some pictures...

Thai massage- 10 bucks for an hour massage on the beach. Can't beat that!

Saying good bye to Koh Samui and the beautiful airport.

London

I spent Tuesday-Friday in Kettering Enlgand at an Autism course. Four other teachers and myself were sent by ICS to attend this course because we all either have Autistic children in our class or help with them. Why the course was held in Kettering, I am not sure. It was in the middle of no where and took us eight hours to get there once we left school. And we did fly there! We had to make alot of train connections out into the middle of no where. At least we found the one spa in town to stay at which was very nice. I would not recommend visiting Kettering if you are in England. There was literally almost nothing in the rest of the town. We ventured into town after the course one night to eat dinner and literally couldn't even find a restaurant to sit down and eat in. So luckily the hotel was nice to hang out in and had a very nice restaurant we could eat dinner in.

Friday, after the course I took the train into London. Zann had flown in that morning and spent the day eating fish and chips and relaxing at the Grosvenor House (sponsored by Keith Sullivan). Friday night we went out for some excellent Indian food then just relaxed in the hotel.

Saturday morning it was so freezing out so we decided to take the bus tour around the city so we could see everything but not have to walk outside. We got off the bus a couple times to see things and take some pictures.
 Big Ben
Prince William outside of Westminster Abbey??
 Westminster Abbey
Walking across the rive with the Eye of London in the background
Freezing outside of the Tower of London
Warming up at lunch in a pub.

After lunch we got back on the bus and it took us about an hour and a half to get back to the hotel. There was a big protest in the city so the traffic was terrible. We finally got sick of being on the bus and took a nice walk arcoss Hyde Park back to the hotel. If visiting London, I would not recommend the bus tours. It worked out ok for us becuase it was so freezing outside but when visiting in nice weather I don't think it would be worth it.  It was very expensive and you can easily get to all attractions by public transport.

Saturday night we met Liz D. and a couple of her friends for dinner at a pub in Kensington. Liz and her room mate moved to London from Paris to open up a boutique. So look out for Gatsby opening up sometime in the fall in London.
Sunday morning we headed to Buckingham palace to see the changing of the gaurd. It was packed with people so we didn't have the best view but we got a glimpse of the parade.
Outside Buckingham palace.

We had a great little weekend away and will look forward to returning to London hopefully in warmer weather for the 2012 Olympics!

Christmas Break in Arizona and DC 2010

As always traveling home at Christmas was a bit of a nightmare. Airports all around Europe were either closed or having major delays due to a snow storm. With little hope of getting out of Zurich, Zann and I decided it would be best for me to try taking the train to Frankfurt. So, after a 4 hour train ride to Frankfurt at 5 am I made it to the zoo at Frankfurt airport where they had cots set up everywhere for the people that had already been stuck there for days. After some other crazy travel mishaps I made it just in time for the Sullivan Family Christmas Party! Which made all the hectic travel worth it! Except that Zann had to stay in Zurich to work until the 28th.

We spent Sunday at Nanny and Grandpa's for Christmas with the Sullivan's then went to Uncle John E and Aunt Kristin's house to see the boys and Gaga and Papa.

Then the flu hit and I didn't see the outside of Susie's room for 4 days so those are all the pictures of DC.

Then off to Arizona to the glorious weather and view from my bedroom...

It was so nice to be in warm weather and see the sun! Cousin Drew came to celebrate with us this year because he was in California as the trainer for the Idaho girls basketball team and Arizona was a closer stop than Indy. It was so great to have him there with us.
We went to Christmas Eve Church at the church where Mom has started working at the preschool. It was beautiful and Mom is loving her job!
Christmas lights in the yard look a little different...

We had such a great and relaxing day on Christmas but were missing Zann a lot!

Grapefruit picking in the backyard before breakfast.

We all got new robes for the hot tub with different mountains near Scottsdale.
(Mummy Mountain, Squaw Peak, Mummy Mountain, Four Peaks, Pinacle Peak for Zann)

We ended the night with a great Christmas dinner followed by dessert with some neighbors.

The rest of the week in Arizona was spent doing a lot of lounging in our new bath robes,

feeding the Koi fish,

watching football outside,
 trying out some new restaurants.

and having another day of Christmas when Zann arrived.

The boys managed to play two rounds of golf even though the weather turned cold and the girls got in some shopping.

More to come on Arizona soon! Blogger is not letting me put any pictures on right now :(
